Now that we worked through some of these feelings, let’s start by connecting with the body and working through some of these energetic blocks.
Breathwork is a great way to do this!
One of my favorite breathing patterns is 4-7-8! This breathing pattern is known to help reinstate homeostasis - in terms of the blood pressure, as well as the heart rate. You conduct this pattern by inhaling for 4 counts, holding your breath for 7 counts, and then exhaling for 8. You repeat this cycle as many times until you feel grounded.
Another great breathing technique is by alternating the nostril when you’re inhaling and exhaling - this is a great way to get a sense of control and calm your breath. You start by closing off your left nostril and inhaling through the right. Then you hold your breath and close off the right nostril and exhale through the left.
Then stay on the same side you inhale, and exit out the right. Check out those 4 Soft and Soothing Breathing Techniques.
Breathwork is a great skill that can be practiced anywhere. However, if you have a bit more privacy or a bit more tension throughout the body - movement and mediation can be very beneficial. I really like to get a little movement in before I meditate so as to clear my mind!
Three ways I do that are to shake it out, dance around or practice yoga! All three techniques are also a great way to put a smile on your face!
